The mission entrusted to RESING focused on defining and formalizing the environmental and social approach of the Société d’Aménagement et de Promotion des Côtes et Zones Touristiques du Sénégal (SAPCO-Sénégal). It enabled the institution to establish a coherent strategic framework and operational tools that incorporate environmental and social requirements into the development and operation of the tourist sites under its responsibility.

The intervention led to the development of SAPCO’s environmental and social policy, defining its commitments, action principles, and strategic orientations. This policy was complemented by the design of a dedicated procedures manual for the environmental and social management of tourism projects. The manual was accompanied by a set of practical tools intended to facilitate the implementation of compliance and monitoring measures: an environmental monitoring tool, an environmental follow-up tool, and a social management tool.

To ensure institutional integration, the newly developed environmental and social policy was then incorporated into SAPCO’s managerial procedures manual, ensuring its systematic consideration across all internal processes. Finally, the mission concluded with training for SAPCO’s teams, enabling them to master the tools developed and ensure their effective use in the context of upcoming tourism projects.
