The impacts on the natural and social environment resulting from the implementation of mining projects are unavoidable. Therefore, this study aims to (i) identify and assess these impacts and (ii) propose the means and measures required to mitigate or even eliminate potential negative impacts, while maximizing the positive ones, through the action plan developed as part of this study.

To carry out this work, RESING conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current environmental conditions at the site, covering, among other components, the physical, biological, and human characteristics of the study area, as well as a detailed description of the existing facilities and their operation.

Following the field investigations, RESING developed an Environmental Management Plan that consolidates all identified impacts and their associated mitigation measures, and defines the procedures to be implemented for monitoring groundwater and surface water quality, ambient air quality, soil quality, landscape evolution, and impacts on the human environment, as well as on fauna and flora.

Activities carried out:

  • Identification of the project influence area
  • Description of the projects and the initial state of their environment
  • Identification of project impacts and development of mitigation measures
  • Preparation of the environmental monitoring plan for each project
